It’s been a while since our last BeneEsse blog and that’s not because of a lack of ideas or topics to write about. In fact it’s been quite the opposite. There’s something so magical about living somewhere so different from what you’re used to and meeting other people who have also made the conscious decision to live a much simpler life. In a way, we are all here for the same reasons and that creates an instant connection.
Nicaragua is still in its infancy and there’s just so much possibility and potential here. Everyone is doing their own little thing and making enough cash to live the life they came here for. As a good friend said to us, “Living life like the new age millionaire. Not becoming one but living life like one”.
It’s beautiful to see everyone around you doing something they are passionate about. Whether It’s owning a family bed & breakfast, operating a bike rental company, consulting in graphic design, teaching surf & yoga, or selling smoothies and running a 1 bedroom hostel. Whatever it is, people are happy and loving life because they chose this life (Before I make it sound like it’s all fairy dust and sparkles, let me say there are challenges. However, somehow it’s easier to overcome the challenges).
Since being here we have met some really special people. Some are here for the long run, and others are passing through. But everyone we come across has generally been an inspiration to us in some way. We have had countless deep conversations with friends we’ve only just met a few weeks ago and shared a few cocktails with. It’s powerful. I think for the first time in a while, we feel like we are exactly where we want to be and not trying to figure out the next move. It’s a great feeling!
